As we approach the week of Thanksgiving, and the beginning of the holiday season, I can't help but reflect upon how thankful I am this year. Life is magical, and this year is no exception.
Too often, I feel I just plow through my days, checking items off of lists, and looking forward to what's next. I don't take time to realize that today is magical, and tomorrow will be too. But, today is where I should be focused. Being present and centered is not easy. It takes intention and choice - choosing to be present and thankful in my current space. I know very few people who actually live this way, but I think we can all identify with the hope to do so.
Especially as a new mom, I know life goes fast. I'm already putting away newborn clothes for Nina. Yikes. I just hope Nina, myself and Mr. Evans live as a thankful family. One that remembers why we celebrate the holidays, and what is truly important at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I hope we raise a daughter who knows the holidays are about more than food, presents, shopping and spending money. Just this week, Nina and I put together a Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child box for her daycare. I hope that's a good start, although small.
Enough of my rambling. Nina's napping, so I had minute to write more than a sentence or two. So, here's my list of things I'm thankful for this year. What are yours? I honestly have no clue who reads this blog (if anyone), but if you do, I'm thankful for you too. :)
1. My family - Mr. Evans and Nina (the two best things... period)
2. My extended family - parents, in laws, SIL's, BIL's, nieces and nephews (family is always there, friends come and go)
3. The health of all of these people (seriously, I'm so thankful we're happy and healthy!)
4. My friends (I love you girls, and although sometimes I'm not the best at emailing/calling (but who is?), I think of you all the time)
5. Money in my bank account
6. Energy to live, play and enjoy life
7. Laughter (thank you Mr. Evans)
8. My home
9. My senses (it might sound stupid, but I'm very thankful for my taste buds, my ears and my eyes)
10. Holiday food and drink (can't wait to enjoy some apps and vino before hibernating in the WI weather)
(Hehe... a few recent snapshots from my iPhone and Instagram)
