Basil!!

As you all know, I love basil (probably more than I love rhubarb)! :) I was recently in St. Paul, MN visiting family and went to the Saturday morning farmer's market. I came upon this amazing herb vendor selling unusual varieties of basil and I couldn't help but snap a few photos to remember what to purchase next year. I was too far from home to purchase some, but these will trigger my memory next season. Yay for basil!! In cocktails, dinner, desserts or breakfast... I say it's the best herb around. :) So fragrant, so pretty, so delish!

Assumptions

I wanted to share these beautiful snaps of some peonies from my front yard. Also, I've been thinking a lot lately about assumptions. These quotes always come to mind so I thought I'd share them with you, dear readers. They're helpful to me so maybe they'll be helpful to you!

"Don't imagine that your life now is the way it's always going to be. You have no idea how interesting your life can become." - Barbara Walters

"The greatest human temptation is to settle for too little." - T. Merton

"Don't wish it were easier. Wish it were better." - Jim Rohn

Newborn Photos - Mae

Less than two weeks after Mae was born we had her newborn photos taken by the wonderful McManigal Photography. Amy has done all of our family photos and we always are so happy with the result. Here's Mae's newborn shoot. :)

P.S. Check out this video from Kid President on a letter to person on their first day here. Love it!

Father's Day Weekend

We've been busy around here, which is nothing unusual. It's just how we like it actually! Here are just a few photos from this past weekend.

Father's Day sure is a special holiday. It's an honor to celebrate the men we love most... especially my dad, whom I respect and admire wholeheartedly. We celebrate his birthday right around Father's Day too, so it's fun to toast him with wine, his granddaughters and more! And as for Mr. Evans... I could be all mushy but he knows how I feel. Mae, Nina and I are so proud to have him in our lives... he is a dream come true and we'd be a mess without him.

Sweet baby Mae

Mae started daycare yesterday! Wow, six weeks flew by us!

We've taken to calling her "Mae Honey" just like we call Nina "Nina Cakey"... silly, I know. She's just so stinkin' sweet, we can't help ourselves. Here's a few silly pics of her bright eyes! My mother-in-law was burping her and she was so glued on me. :)

Summer meals!

Yum! I love cooking and eating in the summer months. There is something about the warm weather, fresh ingredients and farmer's market bounty that just is my favorite!! Here are just a few of the dinners I've been loving lately. I often forget to take photos because I'm too busy enjoying the meal. And of course, it's rhubarb season so I've been taking part!!

Fresh corn, lobster, Ina's panzanella and some goood red wine!
Fresh asparagus and eggs, salad with raspberries and a balsamic dressing drizzled with honey!
Lemon and shrimp pasta with fried capers and basil!

Lately...

Here are a few photos from lately... :) Such fun these two girls are! Happy Monday!

Mae - One Month

Mae was one month old yesterday! She is a super content and sweet baby... we just love her! Her disposition rounds out our family and we couldn't be more proud. :)

Just like I did with Nina (see them here), I plan to post monthly photos on our white nursery rocker.

Mae Sleeping

Mae loves to doze off and she's so cozy and sweet I just have to take snapshots of her. :) I usually text them to Mr. Evans while he's at work, per his request. But, since I'm always looking for blog post ideas I thought ... why not photos of Mae sleeping?

Enjoy! Happy Monday! :)
