Update from the Evans Household

We recently sent this postcard out to our closest friends and family to announce some exciting news. Thanks to Less Ordinary Designs, I just love how this card turned out. And, thanks to my lovely in-laws, we have a printed and mailed announcement in less than a few days!

I thought I'd share this with the world... Who hoo!!

Essentials, Continued.

A few tools in your arsenal, and you're good to go! In fact, I loved wedding registry day with Mr. Evans because we got to pick out great things that we know we'd use all the time.

White kitchen items are my favorite. They're a fantastic and clean blank slate. And Sharpies, who could live without them. Not me. Grocery lists, menu planning, letters to friends. They are the perfect writing utensil.

** Disclaimer: You may have noticed I post a photo or two with each post (as if that's not stating the obvious)! Please keep in mind that I take these photos with a brand new camera that I have barely any idea how to use. Bear with me as I learn! If you have any great tips for learning how to use a Canon EOS Rebel T1i, let me know! Thanks Mom and Dad for my great Christmas gift!

Essentials

There are things in life to which I've become so accustomed, that it's a stretch to imagine them gone. Of course, I'm referring to material things like cooking tools, appliances, cookbooks and blogs. So, really and truly, I can imagine life (and cooking) without them. However, it's a bit more fun (and easy) to employ their help!

Over the next few days, I plan to post some of my kitchen essentials. Today, I'm starting with blogs and cookbooks. I try to keep life relatively simple and organized, so I hope you find that these lists are made with the same philosophy. Some may say control freak, others may say effective and clear. I prefer the latter.

If you have any suggestions for food blogs that you read, please pass them on. I've visited a handful of
"famous" food blogs, but I'd prefer your unique suggestions. Don't get me wrong though, I love celebrity food bloggers! I have a secret (well, not so secret) wish that Ina Garten was my aunt and I was lifelong friends with Deb of Smitten Kitchen.

Essential Menu/Cooking References:

Menus and Occasions

Welcome! Thanks for visiting Rhubarb & Linen. I'm a small town Wisconsin girl who loves rustic, yet sophisticated cooking. Thanks to my mom and Grandma Lorraine, I'm not to shabby.

I read many cooking blogs that I love, but haven't quite found one that organizes menus rather than simply posting individualized recipes. When Mr. Evans and I entertain, we're concerned about the whole meal, the whole experience. I love to put thought into a menu... especially one for a special occasion.

My hope is that this blog will provide you with some menu ideas, amongst many other whimsy and serendipitous things I love from across the web.
