Fresh tomatoes

To me, there is nothing better than fresh heirloom tomatoes, basil, mozzarella and a little olive oil, sea salt and pepper. These are from our local farmers market, as my plants have yet to produce any worthy tomatoes. Don't you just love the colors?

What are your favorite ways to consume tomatoes? Have any good recipes to share?

Counting down the days...

Our baby girl is now the size of a watermelon! I've been eating a lot of watermelon (ironically) and so Mr. Evans creatively agreed to pose for a photo! Hehe. We snapped these photos before our Two-Year Wedding Anniversary Dinner at Lake Park Bistro. We had a wonderful evening and I was spoiled all weekend. I am so lucky to have such an amazing husband who I am grateful to wake up with every day.

Other than that, things are going well. I am now 37 weeks, so she could come any day now I suppose. We are all organized and ready to go. I can't wait to meet her and see what she looks like!

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer weather in Wisconsin. I can't wait to post photos of our little one soon! Can you believe it?

Baby Showers

The past two weekends have been full with back to back baby showers. I was lucky enough to have two showers - one hosted by my mom, and the other hosted by my sisters-in-law and mother-in-law. They were both fantastic and I received such fabulous and generous gifts. I could seriously post pictures of all of the adorable clothes, shoes, accessories, toys, etc. But, that will come when Baby Evans arrives! What fun!

Here are photos from my Steinhardt shower hosted at the West Bend Country Club by my mom.

The setting - how pink! :)

Technically, there are three generations in this photo!

Opening gifts - do you notice my corsage? My mom and aunt made a belly and mommy corsage out of baby socks (Google it if you've never seen it before).

Mr. Evans made an appearance in between golfing 18 holes.

The favor was a "potted" daisy that was actually a pen. Each guest wrote "Wishes for Baby" that I put in an album to read as she grows.

Here are photos from the Evans shower which was just a few days ago in Plymouth.

Delicious food prepared by my SIL's - fresh fruit and veggies, a balsalmic pasta salad, homemade sandwiches, tomato basil mozzarella with bread, and a fantastic mixed green salad. Dessert was Ina's Peach and Blueberry Crisp - yummy.

Adorable fondant cookies made by a local baker in shapes like duckies, onesies and rocking horses.

My SIL Katie is also expecting (a baby boy in December), so we had to take a bump to bump photo before the cousins meet.

My wonderful SIL's and mother-in-law. I am so lucky to have married into such a great family!

Maternity Photo

Our good friends John and Kayla spent a day at the lake with us a few weeks ago. I asked John, a talented graphic designer and photog to snap a "maternity" photo of me. Here's what we came up with. What do you think? He's going to edit one and then I'll have it printed on canvas (a la our engagement photo below). Look familiar?

I snapped this photo quickly with my iPhone, but I was going for a similar feel to our engagement photo so I could hang them near each other. Also, does the sign on the left look familiar? Remember this post (click here).

Zucchini Bread

Our town has a fantastic farmer's market every Saturday morning and I'm a sucker for it. I love the smells, the people, the colors, getting there early, biking down with my little wicker bike basket (pre-pregnancy), and the stands managed by all sorts of unique individuals. I tend not to miss it unless we're out of town. So far this year, I've bought radishes (to make Radish and Avocado Flank Steak Tacos), corn (on the grill), green beans, fingerling potatoes, Beechwood cheese (per the usual), cheese curds (of course, it's Wisconsin), etc. This last week, they finally had zucchini. I love zucchini themed baked goods - bread, muffins, bundt cake... you name it. This year, I tried a recipe from my mother-in-law's cookbook, printed from her good friend Cathy's mother, Ruby.

P.S. Baby shower photos will be posted soon!
